The Gilroy Police Department said Sarina Delgado, 19, and Nicholas Landers, 21, face several charges in the incident. Gilroy PD said Delgado handled the initial outreach with the victim on February 9. The exact motive and circumstances as to why the victim was targeted are not yet clear. It is also not yet known if the victim and the suspects know one another.
“While at the location, the situation escalated into a physical confrontation when 21-year-old Nicholas Landers approached the vehicle and struck the front driver’s side window multiple times with a handgun in an attempted robbery,” said Gilroy police. “The victim was able to escape by driving away, while Delgado jumped from the vehicle. Both Delgado and Landers then fled the area on foot.”
GPD said the Gilroy-Morgan Hill Regional SWAT team assisted with executing search warrants at several locations.
