Belvidere barn fire results in cattle loss, firefighter injured

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — A farmer in Belvidere lost cattle in a barn fire on Friday morning, resulting in a total loss of the barn and some animal fatalities, while one firefighter suffered minor injuries.

Firefighters were called to a property on Genoa Road around 5:43 a.m. to fight the blaze.

Authorities at the scene said the barn was a total loss, and some animals were killed in the incident.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries. The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been requested to the scene.
