BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — A Belvidere firefighter was sent to the hospital after the fire department was called to fight a fire at a commercial warehouse Thursday morning.
According to the Belvidere Fire Department, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from a pallet warehouse in the 1000 block of McKinley Avenue when they arrived at 5:02 a.m.
Multiple fire departments from surrounding municipalities were called to provide backup in the attack, which took two hours to bring under control.
The damage to the facility was estimated at between $50,000 to $100,000.
All occupants of the building had evacuated prior to firefighters’ arrival. The firefighter was taken to the hospital for evaluation and then released.
