Video: Heartwarming reunion of long-lost dog and SF family
Peach had been “removed from the abusive situation” in the North Bay and the suspect in the investigation, who was not the dog’s rightful owner, was arrested and booked into jail for felony animal abuse, the San Rafael Police Department said.
Caretakers at Marin Humane scanned Peach for a microchip and learned that she came from a San Francisco family.
“The family was contacted and confirmed that Peach had been missing since June 2024,” SRPD said.
In a tear-jerking video shared by police (above), Peach is seen excitedly running up to her rightful owners during their reunification, tail wagging in a frenzy, before flopping to the floor and receiving well-deserved belly rubs.
“Even though Peach had been missing for more than a year, it only took a few seconds for her to remember her family,” police said of the moment.
Authorities are reminding pet owners to ensure their furry loved ones are licensed and microchipped in case they are ever lost.
