Stolen car tracked to San Rafael, alleged thief found asleep inside

(KRON) — A man who allegedly stole a vehicle in Sausalito on Wednesday morning was tracked to an area of San Rafael’s Canal neighborhood, where officers found him asleep at the wheel, according to authorities.

Early Wednesday morning, the Sausalito Police Department put out a law enforcement broadcast for a vehicle that was reported stolen. The agency said the vehicle had GPS tracking enabled and it was in the area of Louise Street in San Rafael.

San Rafael Police Department officers responded to the area following the Sausalito PD broadcast. There, they “immediately located the vehicle parked on the roadway,” police said.

The stolen vehicle was returned to the rightful owner.
