SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Owens Corning, a multi-billion-dollar manufacturing company, confirmed it would be laying off a large portion of its staff in Utah.

The Ohio-based company is best known for providing “sustainable building products.” In August, Owens Corning announced $2.7 billion in net sales during the second quarter of 2025, an increase of 10% from last year.

“Owens Corning has made the strategic business decision to curtail operations at our Nephi Insulation manufacturing facility in Utah,” a company spokesperson told ABC4.com in a statement. “We will continue to monitor market conditions and will communicate updates with our employees as appropriate.”

According to Manufacturing.net, Owens Corning contracted with engineering and construction contractor, HFT, as part of an upgrade to the Nephi plant just a few years ago.

“This decision was not taken lightly, and leadership’s priority is supporting the team at the Nephi facility,” the statement concluded.

Records obtained by ABC4.com show the company recently reported over $10.7 billion in annual sales.
