Stephens is a midfielder for Louisiana Soccer, who is set to lead her team as they open the Sun Belt Conference schedule against South Alabama on September 13th.
Stephens, who grew up in Lantana, Texas, has been passionate about soccer since childhood, playing alongside her siblings. At Denton Guyer High School, she was a two-time District 5-6A Midfielder of the Year.
“Kind of from a young age. I started playing soccer and I loved it,” Stephens said, reflecting on her early years playing with her brother Vincent and sister Mariella.
Sisley Stephens shared the field with her older sister Mariella at Louisiana for the past three years, strengthening their sisterly bond through teamwork.
“We always had this sister bond, but I think getting to be teammates was a new level of sisterhood,” Sisley said about playing with Mariella.
Now in 2025, Sisley is a team captain, leading a squad primarily composed of freshmen. Head coach Chris McBride has noted that the team relies heavily on the leadership and knowledge of Stephens as well as fellow captains Aila Swinton and Lily Parker.
They know what to do. They know how we want to build. They know how we want to defend,” he says. “So I think that’s one of the main reasons that we’ve had so much possession. And the game so far is because of their seniority, and their experience back there has allowed us to build in a confidence and in a manner that we haven’t been able to do in the past. So they’ve been key to everything that we’ve been doing on both sides of the ball.
As Louisiana Soccer prepares for their conference opener, Stephens’ leadership will be crucial in guiding the young team through the challenges of the season.
