Woman fatally shot during fight in South Loop; offender in custody: police

CHICAGO — A 31-year-old woman was shot and killed in the South Loop Monday morning.

The fatal shooting happened just after 9 a.m. Monday on the 2200 block of South State Street.

Police said the victim was involved in a physical altercation with another woman, when the offender took out a gun and fired it — striking the the 31-year-old woman in the face.

Police said the victim was transported to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The offender was taken into custody. Area Dectectives are investigating.
