Vandals break windows of over 20 vehicles in south Minneapolis

More Minneapolitans found the windows of their vehicle smashed in on Monday morning as vandals continue to plague the city.

Minneapolis Police Sgt. Garrett Parten says officers found at least 22 vehicles with damaged windows between 12:30 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. Monday.

Parten says initial information suggested three individuals may have been involved in the vandalism and the department, along with local partners, launched a crime pattern response protocol. However, they failed to find the suspects.

The break-ins come after more than 120 cars were broken into on just one night last month. Since July, more than 500 break-ins have been reported across the city, police said last month.

Officers in multiple other metro cities, like Edina and Golden Valley, have also noticed several car break-ins in recent weeks.
