15 detained after double stabbing in Germantown

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Two men are recovering in the hospital after they were stabbed in Germantown early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to the incident, which was initially reported as a shooting, in the 19500 block of Amaranth Drive just after 2:30 a.m. There, two men were found suffering from stab wounds, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD).

Police say an initial investigation determined that multiple teen boys were brandishing BB guns and shooting at a group of people before a man confronted them. The man was then stabbed in the back, and another man sustained a slash to his arm.

Responders took both men to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, when officers arrived at the scene, a large group ran from the location and some drove off towards Amaranth Drive, resulting in a search effort by a Maryland State Police helicopter, MCPD, and the Maryland-National Capital Park Police.

Police say 15 people were detained, but no arrests were made.
