High storm chances today, Summer weather for Labor Day
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Scattered showers and thunderstorms will roll through the area this morning bringing heavy rain and lightning. Minor flooding will be possible where heavy rain sits over the same areas through midday. Temperatures will hold in the 80s throughout the day. Pop-up storms will continue through the afternoon hours. Rain will come to an end for the overnight hours with high humidity and temperatures in the 70s. Sunday will see a few thunderstorms around and highs near 90 degrees in the afternoon hours. Labor Day will be a fairly typical summertime day with a pop-up storm or two and highs in the 90s.

In the tropics, a tropical wave moving off the coast of Africa will have a chance of development later this week as it heads westward. There’s plenty of time to watch this and there’s no tropical threat to the United States or Acadiana anytime soon.

Locally, summer weather continues this week with daily storm chances and temperatures in the 90s. By late week, a dry air front will settle southward and should bring slightly drier conditions for next weekend. It will also take away rain chances from the area into next weekend. Mornings look to be in the upper 60s and lower 70s next Saturday.
