‘Storm stories’ marks 20 years since Katrina in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Shreve Memorial Library David Raines Branch, in partnership with Caddo Parish Talented Arts students and Extensions of Excellence Theatre Group, is presenting “Storm Stories: True Dramas of Hurricane Katrina.”

The play will be held on August 28 at 10 a.m. to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

Hurricane Katrina decimated much of the Gulf Coasts of Mississippi and Louisiana in August 2005, particularly in New Orleans due to flooding and levee breaches.

Written by television writer, producer, and playwright Judi Mason, “Storm Stories” tells the stories of Katrina through monologues and duo acting scenes.

Caddo Parish Talented Arts Teacher and Founder of Extensions of Excellence Theatre Group, Vincent Williams, will present the play.

The performance will feature Talented Arts students, artists from Extensions of Excellence, and Shreve Memorial Library David Raines Branch Manager, Jackquenline Sudds, as Ms. Idella.

The performance is free and open to the public.
