
The department announced the launch of the 2025 Sporting Clays and Trap Shooting Program for Bossier Parish students.
Scholastic shooting in America is growing significantly, with organizations like the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) reporting record participation numbers and a surge in participants and teams.
The 2024 SCTP National Championship setting a new record for participation with 3,657 youth athletes according to Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) webpage.
In Bossier, students in grades 7 through 12 are eligible to join the sheriff’s department program and must register by September 9, 2025.
The season is set to begin mid-September.
In order to participate students must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a Bossier Parish resident
- Must be in grades 7 through 12
- Must be enrolled in school, home schoolers are welcome
- Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing
- Must have a state approved hunter’s safety card or attend a BPSO class.
The Bossier Sheriff’s Office says they are proud to continue supporting positive, safe, and engaging opportunities for youth through this program.
