Convicted felon arrested after being accused of gun theft, meth possession in Mooresville

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Mooresville Police served a search warrant Thursday at a residence on South Magnolia Street as part of an investigation into a stolen firearm.

Detectives discovered that Gregory Adam Newton, of Mooresville, was the suspect in the theft of the firearm. He is also a previously convicted felon.

During the execution of the search warrant, detectives located the stolen firearm, along with approximately seven grams of methamphetamine.

Newton was charged with felony larceny of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and felony possession of methamphetamine.

Newton is being held in the Iredell County Jail without bond.
