According to Tony DeMasters, the Incident Commander, solar heating around the fire area was reduced due to cloud coverage. This allowed crews to begin suppression repairs in Magleby and Koosharem areas.
Burrville repairs are nearly done.
DeMaster’s shared that fire crews successfully eliminated heat around Manning Meadows and are expected to complete mopping up fire operations between Magleby and Elk County by the end of today.
Due to decreased fire activity, two helicopters were released to assist with other fires in the state.
Today’s storms in the area will start dry. The main hazards are lightning and gusty winds.
Later, DeMaster’s states, moisture from Monsoon is expected to increase in the area, raising the chances of showers and thunderstorms for the rest of the week and weekend.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
