Monroe Canyon Fire reaches 86% containment, nears 73,722 acres
SEVIER COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — The Monroe Canyon Fire has reached 73,722 acres with 86% containment.

According to Tony DeMasters, the Incident Commander, solar heating around the fire area was reduced due to cloud coverage. This allowed crews to begin suppression repairs in Magleby and Koosharem areas.

Burrville repairs are nearly done.

DeMaster’s shared that fire crews successfully eliminated heat around Manning Meadows and are expected to complete mopping up fire operations between Magleby and Elk County by the end of today.

Due to decreased fire activity, two helicopters were released to assist with other fires in the state.
