According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a complaint on July 29 alleging the victim, who was under the care of one person, had unexplained injuries. The caregiver was identified as Lance K. Harris, 66, of Pineville.
Detectives interviewed witnesses and reviewed medical records obtained through a search warrant. Based on the evidence, investigators said Harris became the sole suspect.
On Aug. 7, deputies located Harris at his residence, where he was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on six counts of cruelty to the infirm.
Harris was released on Aug. 11 on a $150,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Susan Mosley at the Criminal Investigation Division-Tioga Substation at 318-641-6000.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
