Tree in contact with Somerset power lines causing city-wide ‘electrical issues’

SOMERSET, Ky. (FOX 56) — Crews with the Somerset Fire Department are working a scene involving a tree that has come in contact with power lines nearby, causing electrical issues throughout the city.

Just before 11 a.m. on Wednesday, department officials wrote on Facebook that the tree was in the Easy KY-80 area.

Firefighters said that several local intersections may not have power, asking the public to treat them as a four-way stop.

According to PowerOutage.Us, Pulaski County has 756 customers with no power as of 11:40 a.m.

Pulaski County Emergency Management announced on social media just before noon on Wednesday that power had been restored at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and all schools that had periodically lost electricity.

“KU has indicated they are working the problem and that power will come on in stages as they repair the issues,” Pulaski County emergency officials said. “No specific time for specific areas or estimated completion of repairs was available.”
