Scattered showers in Big Country before heat returns

BIG COUNTRY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The Big Country will enjoy another “cooler” day tomorrow, at least by August standards.

While highs will still reach the mid-90s, that’s just below our current average high of 97 degrees, and well below the triple-digit heat that will return later this week. Wednesday’s high of 96 degrees will be the last day near average before temperatures climb above normal again.

We’ll also keep an eye on continued rain chances. According to weather models, here’s how it shapes up:

• 6:00 p.m. Tuesday: Rain lingers across the Heartland, bringing a few pockets of light to moderate showers.
• 10:00 p.m. Tuesday: Stronger storms redevelop in our southeastern counties, especially near Brownwood.
• 2:00 a.m. Wednesday: Showers and storms move out of the Big Country.

Unfortunately, that won’t be the end of it. Round two arrives Wednesday:

• 1:00 p.m. Wednesday: Scattered showers begin to pop up across the area.
• 4:00 p.m. Wednesday: Rain becomes more widespread, with better coverage of showers and storms.
• 9:00 p.m. Wednesday: Storms clear out, leaving quieter skies overnight.

The extra clouds and potential rainfall will help keep us from heating up too quickly tomorrow, but by late week, sunshine returns, and so will the triple-digit heat.
