The incident occurred yesterday afternoon, around 1:30 p.m., on Quail Loop Street. Officials said the boys were playing a game when one of the children picked up a weapon that was supposed to be locked up, unaware the weapon was loaded.
According to authorities the child then shot the other. That child was then sent to a local hospital.
The investigation is still ongoing; more information will be released as it becomes available.
