Child dies following go-kart crash in Meridianville

MERIDIANVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says a crash involving a go-kart has killed a child from Harvest.

According to ALEA, the crash happened at about 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, on Stewart Road near Mount Lebanon Road, about two miles southwest of Meridianville

The 12-year-old was critically injured when the Manco Dingo Go Kart he was driving left the roadway and hit a culvert.

After the initial impact, ALEA said the child was thrown from the go-kart. The child was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he died from his injuries.
