On Saturday, riders received an email from event organizers to be well-hydrated before starting and to stay hydrated during the ride.
“Providence Bridge Pedal has added extra hydration stations to the route as well as ice and Gatorade at key locations and in the sweep vehicle,” Providence officials said in a release. “Tents with medics are stationed along the route – and there are several medics riding the route on bicycle.”
Since the event begins as early as 7 a.m., most participants should be off the course before the high heat of the day blankets the city.
