Marquam Bridge to close for overnight inspections starting Sunday

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Nighttime commuters best prepare as roads around the Marquam Bridge will be closed to overnight traffic for a week starting Sunday evening.

Beginning at 10 p.m., the bridge will be closed due to routine inspections by personnel with the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The areas affected include I-5 southbound between I-405 and the Marquam Bridge, as well as the I-5 northbound ramp to eastbound I-84.

The full closures go from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. with completion expected by the morning of Friday, April 24.

ODOT says all Portland bridges are inspected every two years and as a result, more closures will be scheduled throughout the spring and summer.
