Shakira’s Fresno show delayed by an hour due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Shakira’s show in Fresno has been delayed due to what organizers say are “unforeseen circumstances” ahead of the event at Valley Children’s Stadium on Thursday evening.

The reason for the hour-long delay was not immediately released, but a later update from Fresno State Athletics cited “the extreme heat” as the cause.

“In the meantime, stay hydrated, find some shade, and look out for each other,” organizers wrote on social media.

The show, which is sold out according to organizer Fresno State Athletics, is now scheduled to start close to 8:30 p.m. (with gates opening at 7 p.m.).

Sales for the show have been strong, according to organizers, but ticket prices did go down by 20% in the days ahead of the performance.

Outside Valley Children’s Stadium, fans have been lining up for what is being billed as the most anticipated event in Fresno this year. Fresno State says as many as 28,000 people will be in attendance.
