Caltrains delayed after pedestrian struck by train in Sunnyvale

(KRON) — Caltrain trains are being delayed due to police activity in the Sunnyvale area, according to a service advisory. According to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a person was possibly struck by a train near Evelyn and Mary avenues.

Traffic is being diverted on Mary Avenue. Sunnyvale DPS advises that people avoid the area if possible.

A Caltrain alert advises passengers to expect significant delays on local weekday routes along the following line:

  • Train 129
  • Train 126
  • Train 131
  • Train 133
  • Train 135
  • Train 137
  • Train 139
  • Train 128
  • Train 130
  • Train 132
  • Train 134
  • Train 136
  • Train 138
  • Train 140

The incident began at 12:24 p.m. Caltrain estimates the end time at around 4 p.m. No other details were immediately available.
