MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A police officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Sunday morning after they were hurt while helping someone who was in distress, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD).
At around 9:25 a.m., officers responded to a parking garage near Wayne and Georgia Avenue for the report of a person in distress. There, officers came into contact with a man.
Officers began helping the man, and one of them sustained minor head injuries while saving him, according to MCPD. The man was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening head injuries.
“Thankful all injuries are minor and we were able to get help for this community member,” MCPD 3rd District Commander Jason Cokinos wrote on social media regarding the incident.
