Firefighters responded at 9:40 p.m. to a one-story single-family home on the 200 block of St. Henry Drive on the report of a fire. Crews saw heavy smoke coming from the residence and located flames coming from the kitchen, Fremont FD said.
It was initially reported to the fire department that a resident was trapped. However, a search concluded that all occupants were outside the house, fire officials said. The kitchen fire was contained and extinguished as firefighters rescued two chickens and a rabbit from the home.
One cat did not survive the blaze, officials said.
Three adults were displaced from the home following the fire. There were no reported injuries to the residents or firefighters.
