1 killed in crash on Indy’s south side

INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway after a man was killed in a crash on Indy’s south side last week.

According to a public police report obtained by FOX59/CBS4, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called on July 18 around 11:35 p.m. to the area of S. East Street and E. Elbert Street in response to a reported fatal crash.

The report shows that the crash reportedly involved a blue 2023 Mitsubishi SUV and a blue 2015 RAM pickup truck. The report details that officers discovered the Mitsubishi SUV in a nearby ditch.

On Monday, the Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased individual as a 40-year-old Uk Lian Thang.

As of this article’s publication, it remains unclear what circumstances led to this fatal crash. It remains an active investigation.
