“It was pretty much chaos by the time I woke up. I was alerted by yelling outside by the police officers,” Williams, a neighbor, told FOX 56.

Inside the West Sun Street apartment, they found a door with three bullet holes. On the other side lay 15-year-old Luis Jocsan Nanez Lopez, dead.
“I was alerted by yelling outside by the police officers, and I was confused because it was down here on the other side of the road, and then I came here to my neighbor’s house,” Williams said.
According to court documents, it’s believed Gildardo Martinez, 36, came home wanting to have sex with his girlfriend, the victim’s mother. Police said that when she turned him down, he bit her and twisted her arm, causing her to scream. Her son, Lopez, opened the door and told Martinez to stop.
That’s when he was allegedly seen with a black pistol. Investigators said he fired it several times, shooting Lopez and his sister.
“I don’t know, there’s a level of guilt that came with that. I wish I could help them,” Williams said.
He told FOX 56 that things like this don’t typically happen in their relatively quiet community.
“That’s part of the reason why I live here. I’ve lived in other places. Indianapolis, Nashville, Memphis. Like, that’s the kind of stuff you will see, but, Morehead, you don’t really think about that kind of stuff,” he emphasized. “You just never know, like, that’s a close knit community. And I’m hoping that everyone comes together and helps this family because they’re going to need it.”
Williams said that the family was always kind to him, and hates to see this happen.
Martinez was arraigned on Monday and pleaded not guilty to murder, first-degree assault, and first-degree attempted rape.
