Third arrest made in Baton Rouge 4th of July shooting

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office has made a third arrest in connection with a July 4 shooting on Gardere Lane that left a bystander injured and a father and his two children targeted.

Deputies responded to the 1700 block of Gardere Lane and reviewed surveillance footage from a nearby business. The video showed a 2025 Honda Civic pulling into a parking lot with four individuals inside. Moments later, gunfire erupted.

According to investigators, a father and his two children were shot at, and a bystander sitting inside his vehicle was also struck during the incident.

James Washington, 21, was previously arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated criminal damage to property.

Randolph Harris, 23, was taken into custody and faces five counts of attempted first-degree murder, along with aggravated criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal handling of a machine gun, and resisting an officer.

Authorities said a third suspect, Reginald Wilson Jr., 21, has also been arrested. He is charged with five counts of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated criminal damage to property. According to an arrest affidavit, Wilson was seated in the front passenger seat and was seen talking to the victim, asking, “What the f— are you looking at?” before shots were fired as the vehicle drove away.

Wilson has been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

The investigation remains ongoing.
