According to a news release, authorities detained 19-year-old Marvin Jose Vasquez-Martinez in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday. The suspect was wanted in Hendricks County, where rape and child molestation charges are pending against him.
FBI Indianapolis confirmed that Vasquez-Martinez was “unlawfully present in the United States.”
Investigators had been searching for Vazquez-Martinez since he reportedly fled Brownsburg in May. According to the release, he has previously been charged with auto theft, resisting law enforcement and possession of marijuana.
The arrest featured collaboration between multiple agencies, including FBI Indianapolis, Homeland Security Investigations Charlotte, the U.S. Secret Service Charlotte and the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
He is currently incarcerated in North Carolina, where he is waiting to be extradited to Indiana.
