SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Home Depot Foundation upgraded an apartment complex designated for veteran’s and low-income residents in Salt Lake City Wednesday.

Team Depot, an associate volunteer force with The Home Depot Foundation, installed new fixtures and upgraded the exterior of an apartment complex owned by the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City (HASLC).

According to the Home Depot Foundation, Team Depot has partnered with over 10,000 nonprofits in order to address immediate needs in different communities across the country. They have also invested more than $550 million in veteran causes.

Additionally, HandsOn Greater Phoenix, a nonprofit organization, has teamed up with Team Depot on this project and others over several years. They’ve reportedly contributed to programs with HASLC.

Upgrades to the complex included a new ADA-compliant outdoor therapy space, new paint in both the interior and exterior, and major landscaping. Additionally, the upgrades added a new playground and improved the complex’s green spaces and pool area.

The housing complex, amongst others owned by HASLC, serves local veterans and those recovering from homelessness. Additionally, seniors, single parents, and low-income families use HASLC housing to avoid and escape homelessness.

The Home Depot Foundation says, “This service project will help instill a sense of pride and security for the families, seniors and veterans who live there, in support of breaking the cycle of homelessness.”
