Halliburton, Make-A-Wish fulfill Emmy’s Disney World dream post-cancer

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Emmy was just two years old when her parents began to notice she wasn’t her typical self. Early signs included low energy, back pain, low-grade fever, and most importantly, a lump on her neck. After a CT scan, it was discovered that lump was a tumor, and there were two more in her body as well. That’s when they discovered Emmy had neuroblastoma.

The diagnosis was given just days after her third birthday. After a year of treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, Emmy is finally back home.

Aside from the obvious hardships, the family also struggled being apart. Emmy has three siblings who had to stay in Louisiana with their grandparents. It was only during holidays or short breaks from treatment that they could reunite.

Emmy is now eight months cancer-free, and recently got a wish granted. She and her family went to Disney World, courtesy of Halliburton and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The team at Halliburton sponsored this wish for Emmy, and she got to spend a few days with the princesses, riding roller coasters, picking out souvenirs, and doing all things Disney.

The family says they are grateful for this experience that they would not have gotten otherwise.
