NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department arrested a suspect Saturday, July 12, for an alleged fatal hit-and-run.
The NOPD said they arrested 19-year-old Thomas Riggio of St. Bernard Parish. The alleged hit-and-run occurred in the early morning hours on Saturday at the intersection of Alvar Street and Saint Claude Avenue.
The victim was riding a bicycle at the time of the incident and was declared dead on the scene. The vehicle that struck the victim fled.
Riggio was booked into the Orleans Justice Center.
Identification of the victim will come at the completion of the autopsy.
