RSL enters the match on a three-game unbeaten run, including last weekend’s thrilling 3–2 win over St. Louis CITY SC. Noel Caliskan and Diogo Gonçalves each scored in the first half before a second-half St Louis own goal helped RSL rope in all three points.
Where They Stand
Real Salt Lake sits 12th in the Western Conference with 22 points through 20 matches. Houston, meanwhile, is in a four-way tie for 7th with 26 points. A win would put RSL right back in the thick of the playoff hunt.
After losing three straight, the Dynamo have bounced back with back-to-back wins — a 1-0 home result over St. Louis and a wild 4-3 victory against expansion side San Diego FC last weekend, sealed by a penalty in the 100th minute.

Luna Riding High on His Return from Gold Cup Duty
Diego Luna returns to his RSL homestead after a standout run with the U.S. Men’s National Team at the 2025 Gold Cup, where he recorded 3 goals and 2 assists en route to the final.
Speaking to media after training on Thursday, Luna said he’s eager to reconnect with the home fans:
“It’s something that I have been thinking about a lot throughout (National Team) camp,” Luna said. “I can’t wait to get back and put on the RSL jersey in front of the fans that have been amazing support while I was gone. There was a video that RSL posted of the fans and it made me tear up. I’m excited to come back and play there and score goals in front of our fans because you know without them, without RSL I wouldn’t be where I’m at. I’m extremely grateful.”
Saluting a Club Legend: Álvaro Saborío
Before kickoff, RSL will honor former striker Álvaro Saborío for his massive contributions to the club’s golden era.
The Costa Rican international joined RSL in 2010 and made an immediate impact — leading the team with 12 goals in his debut season and winning MLS Newcomer of the Year. He also starred in CONCACAF Champions League, netting eight goals to help RSL reach the final.
Saborío became the club’s first-ever Designated Player that offseason and quickly established himself as the team’s all-time leading scorer. In total, he scored 63 goals in 127 appearances for RSL across all competitions.
He was named FutbolMLS.com’s Latino del Año in 2013 and scored in that year’s MLS Cup Final, which ended in a heartbreaking shootout loss to Sporting Kansas City.
Saborío remains a fan favorite and one of the most prolific strikers in club history.
Houston Dynamo Key Players
- Sebastián Ponce – 7 goals
- Griffin Dorsey – 2 goals, 6 assists
- Jack McGlynn – 2 goals, 5 assists
Houston has rotated heavily in goal, using four different goalkeepers this season. Jonathan Bond leads the way with 13 starts and was in net for last weekend’s win over San Diego.
Last Meeting
RSL defeated Houston 2-1 on the road back on March 15. Diogo Gonçalves opened the scoring just one minute in, assisted by Emeka Eneli, and Diego Luna added a header deep into first-half stoppage time. Ponce scored Houston’s lone goal.
