East Baton Rouge residents can give feedback on housing, community development plans

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — East Baton Rouge Parish residents are encouraged to give feedback on housing and community development plans.

The mayor-president’s office said the Draft 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan and 2025 Action Plan outline key priorities and planned investments for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development programs. The money aims to go to initiatives and services for low- to moderate-income households.

Here’s a look at proposed funding for federal programs:

  • Community Development Block Grant (CDBG): $3,313,007
  • HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME): $1,268,060
  • Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG): $291,476
  • Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA): $2,254,865

How to give feedback

Residents can request a copy or send comments by emailing ocd@brla.gov, calling 225-389-3039 or visiting 222 St. Louis Street, 7th Floor, Baton Rouge, LA 70802.

The comment period opened Friday, July 11, and closes at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11.
