NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officials with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced on Thursday, July 10, the closure of the Judge Seeber Bridge.

DOTD officials said the bridge will fully close starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, July 14, until 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8 for repairs to the bridges pedestal and pads.

They are the concrete areas supporting the bridge’s driving span while down for vehicle crossing.

Expansion joints will also be cleaned.

The work is due to the bridge not properly settling when returning from the upright position, according to the DOTD. They add that repair efforts were attempted without full bridge closure in the past.

DOTD officials say to fully resolve the issue, concrete must be repoured in certain areas and have time to cure before supporting vehicle weight.

The bridge previously closed for five days in May, due to mechanical repairs.

Lafayette contractor C.E.C., Inc will be performing the work.
