SHREVEPORT (KTAL/KMSS) — Northwestern State University is teaming up with the Digital Media Institute (DMI) in Shreveport.

According to a press release, starting this fall, students will have the option to focus their fine art studies through DMI’s curriculum. Students who began their education at DMI will be able to complete their general coursework through NSU and transfer into the university’s four-year degree programs. The goal is to bridge the gap between two-year technical education and four-year fine arts degrees.

“This collaboration is about creating more access and more opportunity for students in the visual arts and creative technology fields,” said Greg Nelson, Academic Director at DMI. “By combining our strengths—DMI’s technical specialization and NSU’s academic diversity—we’re preparing students not just for graduation, but for real careers in design, media and advertising.”

The Digital Media Institute currently specializes in accelerated programs including digital design, animation, and media production.

The partnership will reportedly allow students to enter the job market after two years with a competitive portfolio and industry credentials. For information on the program, visit dmi.edu.
