MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Two people were being evaluated after a tractor-trailer carrying food overturned Friday on I-495 in Kensington, creating a fuel leak.

Hazmat crews with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) were called to help clear the scene.

Spokesman Pete Piringer said in a social media post made shortly before 3:30 p.m. that a tractor-trailer veered off the road and down an embankment.

The tractor-trailer then crashed into trees along the beltway between Georgia and Connecticut avenues.

MCFRS evaluated two patients, but it was not clear how significantly they were hurt.

Hazmat was helping with the fuel tank “pump off,” Piringer noted. As a result, some lanes were blocked.
