Man struck, killed by SUV while crossing Indian Head Highway, police say

CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — An investigation is underway after an SUV fatally struck a man on Indian Head Highway overnight.

Maryland State Police troopers responded to the reported crash around 12:30 a.m. in the northbound area of the highway, just north of Maryland Route 225. There, they found 45-year-old Kory Branson, who had been hit by a Chevrolet Tahoe, according to MSP.

Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Branson was trying to cross the road when the Chevrolet hit him, police detailed. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene, and the highway was closed for more than two hours as police investigated.

As of Wednesday morning, no charges are being filed against the driver, MSP noted. Investigators urge anyone with information regarding the crash to contact police at 301-392-1200.
