Homeowner shoots unknown man on property in Charles County, sheriff’s office says

CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A man was seriously hurt after he was shot while approaching someone at their home in Nanjemoy last week, according to deputies.

Just minutes after 11:30 p.m. on June 28, officers responded to the 8000 block of Bowie Road for a reported shooting. There, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.

Responders took the man to the hospital for treatment.

The sheriff’s office said officers conducted a preliminary investigation and discovered that the man was approaching someone on their property whom he did not know when they opened fire.

Authorities have not indicated whether any charges will be filed. However, detectives are working with the Charles County State’s Attorney’s Office as the investigation continues.
