Man accused of 2023 mass shooting at Baton Rouge nightclub enters guilty plea
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A man accused of a nightclub shooting in 2023 pleaded guilty to attempted murder charges.

According to court records, JRon Hines, 19, entered a guilty plea for four counts of attempted first-degree murder. Hines was initially charged with 12 counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of illegal use of weapons.

Hines would serve 20 years for each guilty plea, making his sentencing 80 years with credit for time served. The court also recommended Hines for any program while in prison.

On Jan. 22, 2023, gunshots rang out in a mass shooting at the Dior Bar and Lounge nightclub in Baton Rouge that left 12 people hurt.

Police believed the shooting was not a random act of violence but a “targeted attack.”

Three other men, Nikeal Franklin, 21, Jy’Shaun Jackson, 21, and Shawnchez Lemar, 24, were also arrested.

Franklin pleaded guilty to four counts of attempted first-degree murder on June 10.
