By rssfeeds-admin TEXARKANA, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) — TAAC, the African American Committee of the Texarkana Regional Arts & Humanities Council (TRAHC), is hosting Crowning Traditions of Men, a fundraiser showcasing fashion.
Attendees will enjoy music, presentations, and a curated exhibit highlighting the history and artistry of hats in African American communities.
TAAC chairperson Treva West said, “Hats hold deep cultural and social significance in African American communities. They symbolize identity and pride, resistance and resilience, and spiritual and ceremonial meaning, especially in Black churches.”
The fundraiser takes place on July 12 at 6 p.m. at Cabe Hall in the Regional Arts Center. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children. Models include Eric Davis, Charles Perry, Phil Tolliver, Dr. Ray Larry, Pastor Kenneth Reid, Donald Mothershed, and other individuals from the community.
West said, “This event is more than a fundraiser–it’s a vibrant celebration of heritage, creativity, and community. Come for the hats, stay for the history, and leave empowered.
