Alumni, leaders unite at SUAF National Leadership Summit

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Southern University alumni from across the country are gathering in Shreveport for the 2025 National Leadership Summit.

The Southern University Alumni Federation‘s goal for the multi-day event is to strengthen community connections and inspire advocacy for the university’s future.

“So this is an annual event that takes place in different parts of the country. We are happy to welcome our Southern University alumni federation to Shreveport, the various alumni members, graduates from our institution, as well as the faculty and the students who are gathering here now to get valuable information to take back to their areas,” State Senator Sam Jenkins.

The summit continues through the weekend, uniting alumni, leaders, and stakeholders nationwide under the leadership of the university’s first female chancellor, Dr. Aubra Gantt.

The ‘All White Affair‘ kicks off Friday, June 27, at 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. at Uptown Longe, followed by a ‘Life Members of the Southern University Alumni Federation Breakfast’ on Saturday, June 28.

SUAF’s summit concludes with an elegant Honors’ Hall of Fame Recognition Dinner at the Norma J. Blake Community Center located at 1666 Alston Street, Shreveport. The “event pays tribute to honorees whose remarkable contributions and unwavering dedication have left a lasting impact on the Southern University Alumni Federation and its mission,” according to the website.
