COPPELL, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — AAA Texas is reporting that gas prices are seeing a slight increase as Texans prepare to hit the road for the Independence Day holiday. Texas was ranked as the third cheapest for gas in the US.
“U.S. airstrikes over the weekend caused petroleum futures to spike Sunday evening, with oil creeping up to $78/bbl. That quickly dissipated by Monday, and as of this morning, oil prices are back to what they were pre-conflict,” said officials.
AAA Texas reported that the average gas price in Texas was $2.82 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel. Drivers in the Amarillo area are paying an average $2.76 per gallon, and those in the Lubbock area are paying the least at $2.67 per gallon.
“As drivers prepare for 4th of July road trips, AAA Texas reminds them to maximize their vehicle’s fuel efficiency by making sure their cars and trucks are well-maintained, including properly inflated tires,” said AAA Texas Corporate Communications Manager Doug Shupe. “Drivers can also increase their vehicle’s fuel efficiency by obeying speed limits because the faster a vehicle is moving, the more fuel it burns.”
