Corps says area lakes in good shape heading into Memorial Day weekend


Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes are in strong condition heading into the Memorial Day holiday weekend, with nearly all campgrounds and campsites open on both lakes.Chief Ranger of Recreation for the Corps of Engineers Mason Smith says, the lakes are in great shape for this time of year.

According to Smith, campground usage between the two lakes is currently around 85 percent, meaning some campsites are still available for people looking to make last-minute plans for the holiday weekend.

Smith went on to say it has been several years since lake levels have been this favorable ahead of Memorial Day.

Smith also encouraged visitors to prioritize safety during the busy holiday weekend, especially while boating.
