TEXARKANA, Ar. (KTAL/KMSS) – Thousands of Facebook posts pour in mourning the loss of a musician with strong roots in Texarkana.

Michael Rigsby, a well-known musician in the Texarkana and Dallas area, played instruments at church in Texarkana during his youth and continued to frequent and perform in the city into adulthood.

According to a representative with the Irving Police Department (IPD), Rigsby was reported missing yesterday, June 22, at 8 p.m in Irving, Texas.

Family and loved ones flooded social media with posts searching for the musician.

“I have been told that he did not show up for church this morning. He plays at the Potter‘s House, and he never misses church.”

A Facebook post from his mother reported that he was last seen at 3:45 a.m. in Irving, TX. His last message was sent at 5:19 a.m., saying he was home lying down before he went silent.

Today, June 23, the Frisco Police Department confirmed that Rigsby was found dead in Frisco, Texas, at approximately 9 a.m.

Friends and family reflected on his musical abilities when announcing his passing, “Texarkana, we have lost one of our great musicians, Minister of Music Michael Rigsby. Michael was one of the most humble young musicians. The chords he used were just music to the soul!”

Another friend reflects on Michaela as a child, “For those of us that grew up in and around Texarkana and were a part of the music scene there, we saw this kid grow up learning how to play from his father, and we knew way back then that he was going to be something special.”

IPD nor FPD was able to provide additional information as the case is currently under investigation.
