HERRIMAN, Utah (ABC4) — A Herriman woman is facing aggravated assault charges after she allegedly brandished a firearm at a group of minors during a road rage incident.
Kaitlen Nicole Halladay, 31, has been charged with three counts of felony aggravated assault and one count of felony threatening or using a dangerous weapon in a fight or quarrel. All four charges have the road rage enhancement.
According to documents, on March 11, 2025, a Herriman Police officer was approached by three minors who wanted to report an incident involving a firearm while they were driving.
The minors told the officer that while they were travelling in the area of 12600 S Mountain View Corridor, a white car cut them off at the light. The minor who was driving said that the white car sped past them and nearly hit the curb.
In response, the minor who was driving “threw her hands up in frustration,” and the minor sitting in the back seat yelled at the car, saying, “Don’t do that stupid s–!”
A woman with black hair and sunglasses then allegedly “brandished a black handgun and pointed it at them,” documents say. The minors told police that she was waving it around and yelling. The minor who was driving then tried to put distance between their vehicles but said that the woman continued to follow them.
One of the minors was able to take a picture of the woman’s license plate, and police were able to identify her as Halladay. On April 2, one of the minors identified Halladay as the woman who threatened them when presented with a photo lineup.
On May 7, police conducted an interview with Halladay, where she claimed that she remembered the incident but did not brandish a gun. Instead, Halladay said that she had responded with “a hand gesture and verbal provocation,” and that the hand gesture was in the shape of a gun.
Although she denied brandishing the weapon, Halladay allegedly admitted to police that she owns a black Hellcat Pro 9mm handgun, but said she did not have it with her at the time of the incident.
Halladay is not currently being held, and is instead on pretrial release with conditions, including: not committing any offenses, avoiding contact with the victims, completing an anger management evaluation and forfeiting possession of a firearm or other dangerous weapon.
