NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating after two people were killed Monday morning, June 16, in separate shootings minutes apart.
The first shooting happened in the 2200 block of Beinville Street around 2:30 a.m. NOPD officers said they responded to the scene to find a 62-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was taken to a hospital by EMS, where he later died.
Minutes later, at 2:50 a.m., officers were alerted of a second shooting involving two people at the corner of North Prieur and St. Maurice streets.
Upon arrival, officers learned two people were taken to a hospital by car where one victim was pronounced dead. The other suffered no injuries in the shooting.
No further details on either shooting are available at this time. The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine possible suspects and motives.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identities after the families are notified.
