Shortstop Steven Milam just loves batting with the bases loaded. The sophomore hit a grand slam in Game 1, and his bases-clearing double gave the Tigers a 4-0 lead in Game 2. They ended up plating six runs in the frame. He finished with five RBIs.
Junior Anthony Eyanson was dominant early, but was a bit shaky in his final two innings. West Virginia cut LSU’s lead down to 6-4 before Eyanson exited the game. He tossed five frames, allowed four earned runs and tallied seven strikeouts.
Chris Stanfield’s RBI single in the seventh inning gave the Tigers some separation in the seventh, extending their lead to 8-4. And they never looked back.
Now, the Tigers have punched their ticket to Omaha where they will play Arkansas in their first matchup. LSU won the regular season series against the Razorbacks when the teams squared off for a three-game set last month.
